As if I have time to go and chat about such matters in a work day!

Why don't they hold these events in the evening or at weekends?

One of my slowest payers was SLDC, who failed to pay for a job done in March, until August, because one of their employees made an error, and my work could not be fixed to the wall until they sorted out their mistake!

Reading the schedule the event is from 9:15am - 11:30am, first half hour set for breakfast and some networking, so effectively those attending are giving up half a day.

Never going to be a suitable time for everyone, I'm sure those that see it as possibly being valuable will figure out how to fit it into their working day.

There are quite a few events that pop up from time to time for small businesses, self-employed organised by other companies / individuals, usually in the evening as well. Sometimes you here about these events from linkedin groups like Cumbria Cafe, Cumbriahour. The twitter discussion on a Monday 7-8pm on the #cumbriahour hashtag, and radio cumbria have a business hour on a Monday 6-7pm that sometime mentions events

It is smaller often self employed traders that suffer most from slow payers, the same group that would find it hard to justify half a day at an event when they have customers to serve.

You sound doubtful as to the truthfulness of my story?
I can back up my claims, and have others that might seem incredible to you, such as invoices PAID for work not done - admittedly back in 2000 which also caused me a problem... although not of SLDCs making!

I have also supplied work to one department of SLDC which they paid for, which was intended for another department which didn't have the financial resources to purchase what was needed.
