A NEW café is being opened by the University Hospitals Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

The cafe will be unveiled at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary on Monday (March 10).

It follows the success of a similar cafe at Westmorland General Hospital, thanks to the Projects Kendal, Barrow and Lancaster initiative launched in 2012.

Juliet Walters, the Trust’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are really pleased to be unveiling our new café area.

“The whole purpose of Projects Kendal, Barrow and Lancaster was to make improvements that would make a difference to the experience patients and visitors get when in our hospitals.”

The project has enabled staff, governors, GPs, and members of the public to come up with suggestions as to how the Trust could make immediate improvements to its local hospital.

The new café will open for business from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 5.30pm at the entrance to the Centenary Building.

Coffee, tea, a selection of hot and cold drinks plus hot and cold food will be available.
