AN APPEAL has been launched for actors to take part in Kendal Community Theatre’s production of Oh What A Lovely War, which chronicles the horrors of the First World War.
Rehearsals are due to start soon and workshops are already taking place - but there is still time for new cast members to join.
More than 100 roles need filling, for which at least thirty actors are needed. The play tells the story of the conflict with songs and often bitter humour as well as drama. It will be presented at Castle Street Centre, Kendal, on six nights, July 21 to 26.
The play was first produced – to great critical acclaim and huge popular success – by Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop company. In 1969, it was made into film with a stellar line-up of actors, including Sir Laurence Olivier, Dirk Bogarde, Kenneth More and Sir John Mills.
