A VALENTINE’S appeal run by a cancer treatment centre has raised over £4,000, it has been revealed.

The day of action in aid of the Rosemere Unit, at Preston, was a roaring success thanks to people across south Cumbria and north Lancashire who held dozens of events to pull in the pounds.

Fundraisers included Our Lady of Lourdes School in Carnforth and St Mary’s in Yealand, who raised over £100 by selling ‘hearts for wishes trees’ and holding a ‘dressing gown’ day, while Windermere School held a balloon auction which raised £100.

Generous customers donated £399 at Booths in Ulverston and £894 at Asda in Kendal, among others.

“The enthusiasm and support from the local community during our Valentine’s Appeal has been terrific,” said Sue Thompson, Rosemere chief officer.

”It’s so refreshing to see so many people get involved in fundraising for the charity, with such a variety of activities and events – we’ve tried to visit everyone to say a personal thank you.

“The money raised will really make a big difference to all who rely upon the valuable support provided by Rosemere in the region.”
