AN ALTERNATIVE Oscars' ceremony has taken place at South Lakes Foyer in Kendal. Impact Housing hosted its second annual celebration, where awards were given to young people for community involvement, best organised event, best suggestion and outstanding achievement.

Jo Scarlett, service manager, said: “It was so inspiring to be involved in the event and relive all the amazing achievements of young people over the last 12 months.

“Events such as this are vital in empowering young people, enhancing self-esteem and developing aspirations – all of which are key to moving on to independent living, the ultimate goal of our service.”
