A BOMB disposal squad has removed a Second World War ordnance relic from a Lake District town.
Cumbria Police said at 9.36am today, they were informed that a member of the public had found what was described as an old ordnance relic in a property in Station Road, Cockermouth.
As a precaution, police installed a cordon around the area, and evacuated those in the cordon area.
A bomb disposal team from Catterick attended the situation and after carrying out assessments took the relic away.
Station Road, which was previously closed, is now open.
Cumbria police said they would like to thank the public for their co-operation and patience.
