Eden farmer to stand in May European election

AN EDEN farmer has been selected as a Conservative candidate in the forthcoming European elections.

Kevin Beaty, who runs a 300 strong herd of Jersey dairy cows near Penrith with his wife Liz, will be number three on the Tory list for the May 22 poll.

Mr Beaty said: “For the first time in more than a decade the North West has the chance to vote for a farmer in the European elections.”
