DRIVERS using the M6 through Cumbria are being advised that resurfacing work along the northbound exit slip road at junction 39 at Shap has been postponed.

The work – using overnight closures of the northbound exit slip road for up to a week – was due to start tonight but has now been delayed.

Once re-scheduled, the closures will take place for routine resurfacing work in a £79,000 Highways Agency project. Road markings will also be refreshed during the work which will take place between 8pm and 6am each night.

Lane one of the main northbound carriageway will also be closed overnight past the exit slip with a 50mph speed limit in place.
