MORE than 100 people attended an open evening at Ulverston-based GlaxoSmithKline to find out more about apprenticeships.
This year the pharmaceutical company is taking on nine apprentices in laboratories, engineering and manufacturing - bringing the overall total to 28.
Human Resources Manager Sarah Hart said: "I’d like to encourage anyone thinking about an apprenticeship to look at what GSK has to offer. We would particularly like to encourage more applications from women
"Our apprenticeships combine study and on-the-job training. All our apprentices have a personal development plan and they are given different roles during the scheme to help them realise their maximum potential.
"They are also given regular feedback and coaching, and they all have a personal mentor for advice and support. We also offer a good pay and benefits package.
"We work really hard to inspire our apprentices and we want to attract intelligent, enthusiastic and hardworking young people who will help to build the company’s future."
