A SEARCH for missing Matthew Jordan is due to get under way in Bowness today (Saturday).

The search is said to be confined to Matthew’s family and friends who will be combing the area and where Matthew went missing.

Police search Advisors, will be present to offer expert search advice and to co-ordinate the search effort.

Images and videos which capture the last confirmed sightings of missing Matthew Jordan have been released by police.

It comes as the search for Matthew, aged 20, from Middlesbrough, enters its tenth day.

The criminology student was last seen in the early hours of Thursday March 27 following a night out with friends in Bowness.

Detective Inspector Furzana Nazir said: "We are releasing these images in the hope that this jogs someone’s memory, did you see someone that looked like Matthew on this night? No matter how irrelevant you may believe your information is, we would like to hear from you.

"Matthew’s family and friends have been here since the day he was reported missing. We have detectives, local officers, underwater search teams, mountain rescue and search dogs all trying to find him.

"The response from the local area in assisting with our enquiries is heart-warming and everyone wants the end result of Matthew being reunited with his family safe and well."

Part one of the CCTV images show Matthew leaving his friends who were at the Stag’s Head at 0.26am and walking off in the direction of Church Street towards the Lake Road promenade.

The second part is following Matthew’s return and shows him sitting outside the same pub. He then heads off down Church Street at 0.44am, this is the last confirmed sighting of Matthew.

Detective Inspector Nazir added: "It remains unknown as to where he went. I can’t reiterate enough how out of character this is.

"I would like to appeal to the public again to please get in touch with any information they have.”

Matthew is described as 6ft tall, of medium build, with dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a navy long sleeved shirt, jeans and grey pull up boots.

On Wednesday Matthew's parents delivered an emotional appeal for information.

Mum Clare Jordan said: "We know Matthew had money on him and that his mobile phone battery had gone flat.

“He asked for assistance at one establishment to use a phone charger and a taxi to be ordered. 

"He also asked at another establishment for a room for the night. 

"Unfortunately none of these requests were fulfilled.

"Matthew was last seen heading towards the Rayrigg Road at around 1am. 

"We believe that there must be more sightings of Matthew at this time, please come forward with any information no matter how small.

"Matthew is our world.  We love you Matthew.  We will find you and we will never give up looking for you.”

DI Nazir added: "There is no reason to suggest anyone had fallen out – Matthew had gone towards the toilets and that’s where his friends thought he was.

"They were four lads, all of a similar age, build and height, all from the North East and all students.

"They have all been described by witnesses so far as nice, polite lads."
