AN 84-year-old man was helped by two mountain rescue teams yesterday after he fell ill while walking above Ullswater.
The man, from North Wales, was with his son in the Auterstone Crag area when he began to feel ‘faint and unwell’.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 1pm and seven of its team members were joined by three volunteers from the Penrith team.
The man was stretchered off the fell by rescuers and taken to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle by the Great North Air Ambulance.
The rescue lasted two hours.
