A NEW bus service is to be introduced in the Dales from Saturday, linking residents in Sedbergh with two popular attractions.

A launch event has been held for the new 564C service, which is to be run by Western Dales Bus between Sedbergh’s Farfield Mill and Hawes.

The service will be introduced following a postal survey which found 97 per cent of residents were in favour of it.

“The Western Dales Bus, run entirely by volunteers, aims to keep rural communities and businesses alive by maintaining regular transport links in the Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale area, not served by commercial bus companies,” explained spokeswoman Liz Nuttall.

The service was also hailed by Jock Cairns, chair of Western Dales Bus, who said: “Providing a bus link from Sedbergh to Farfield Mill and to Hawes on a Sunday will give people easy access to two popular local destinations.”

A new timetable has also been introduced on other services.
