MORE than 35 experts in knitting, spinning, decorative textiles, weaving, needlework and felt work will come together this Sunday.

They will be demonstrating their skills in the Knit and Stitch Show at Rheged, near Penrith.

Carina Lightbody, from the Rheged team who has organised the event, said: "We are delighted to have so many exhibitors coming to Rheged for this very special one day show.

“We are very aware that these traditional crafts are enjoying something of a revival and as a business which has grown out of the family farm, we are keen to inspire people who enjoy practical crafts and decorative textiles as well as helping to generate more interest in British wool”

As well as exhibition stands, a number of organisations will be demonstrating throughout the day from places like Farfield Mill, Sedbergh, and Fleece with Attitude, Weardale.

A number of stands will sell hand dyed yarns including Coastal Colours from Fleetwood, Natural Born Dyers from Newcastle and Ripple crafts from the Highlands of Scotland, while Mainsforth Alpacas from Ferryhill will raise awareness of their undyed yarn in natural colours from the fleece of their British Alpacas Jane Flanagan Textiles from Bolton will be selling handwoven textiles and sharing information on weaving and felt making workshops.

There will be a number of local exhibitors from Penrith including Clementines Needles, with unique needlework, wedding accessories and vintage embroidery, Shades of Wool with needlecraft and wool and Just Sew, selling a mix of fabric for sewing and patchwork, felting and trims.

However, perhaps the most unusual exhibitor is The Wool Room from Rutland who will sell luxury bedding made from the finest British wool, scientifically proven to give a good nights sleep.

The Knit and Stitch Show on Sunday (April 6) is free to enter and open from 10am to 4pm. For more information visit or call 01768 868000
