A RAFFLE is being held to mark the end of term for Cumbria County Council's Chairman.

Alan Barry, who was instrumental in securing funding for dozens of defibrillators across the county, is signing off with a special grand draw featuring a host of great prizes.

Throughout his year in office Coun Barry has pulled out all the stops to maintain momentum for his defibrillator campaign.

And thanks to the support of the county’s communities, rotary clubs, first responders and county councillors, funding for more than 60 was found.

"The support for the defibrillator campaign has been extraordinary," he said.

"At the start of my year as Chairman I never expected that Cumbria's communities and my fellow councillors would work so well together to ensure funding for more than 60 defibrillators to be dotted around the county.

"Each one of the defibrillators can and will save a life at some point and to think that we're all responsible for that is fantastic.

"Some of the prizes that have been donated are incredible and I'd like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who has donated."

The draw will take place on May 19.

Tickets for the raffle are £1 each and can be purchased at libraries and reception desks at county council offices around the county

Prizes are still being donated and for a full list visit www.cumbria.gov.uk/100days.
