CUMBRIA Police have revealed this afternoon that clothing found in the search for a missing man do not belong to him.

A pair of men's jeans were found yesterday by volunteers on a major public search of Windermere and Bowness for missing Matthew Jordan, 20.

But today Detective Inspector Furzana Nazir said in a statement: “Yesterday some items of clothing were found, police have conducted initial investigations and can confirm that they believe the pair of jeans found were not Matthew's.

“Our search today has been focussed in more rural locations including the shoreline, however nothing significant has been found.

“Members of the public have continued to phone us and we have had two possible sightings of Matthew in the Lakes area, however these sightings have been investigated and I can confirm that these were not Matthew.

“We are still looking for Matthew, I would like to ask people to think back to Thursday 27th March, were you in the area? Do you remember seeing Matthew? If you do and you have not spoken to us yet, please call us, any piece of information, however small, may help to find him.”

Matthew is described as 6ft tall, of medium build, with dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a navy long sleeved shirt, jeans and grey pull up boots.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101 as soon as possible and ask for the duty sergeant at Windermere. Or you can call Missing People in confidence on 116 000.
