ULVERSTON teenager Milly Pyne has received a special award in recognition of her support for the charity founded by her sister Alice.

Milly’s sister Alice Pyne, who lost her battle against cancer last year, was the driving force behind Alice’s Escapes which provides holidays in Cumbria for families with seriously ill children

Milly, with parents Vicky and Simon, has continued the work of the inspirational charity and recently she climbed Africa’s highest mountain Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Alice’s Escapes.

The sisters were the first winners of the Philip Broadley Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to young people who have raised money for charity or have done exceptional things in their local community.

And now Milly’s outstanding fundraising efforts has again been recognised with the award in memory of Mr Broadley, a well-known Lake District publican and former Ulverston Rotary Club president.

Dorothy Broadley, who created the award in memory of her late husband, presented it to Milly at a meeting of Ulverston Rotary Club at the Olde Mill, Bardsea.
