EGG hunters will have to crack clever clues to unearth £10,000 worth of prizes in this year’s Great Peter Rabbit Egg Hunt.

The one day event will span the Lake District countryside where 50 handcrafted ceramic eggs will be placed in safe-to-reach sites on favourite family walks.

This year although all 50 eggs offer a prize, 12 lucky eggs are associated with top prizes totalling £10,000.

First prize offers a family of four train travel to London, a 2 night hotel stay and tickets to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show to see the Peter Rabbit Herb Garden.

Other prizes include luxury overnight stays at Lake District Hotels and tickets for local attractions including Windermere Lake Cruises, Haverthwaite Railway, Lakeland Motor Museum and Brockhole.

Local artist Sue Dunne has created three limited edition designs for the ceramic eggs.

Each egg, a prize in itself is a unique, collectable item and allows its finder family entry in to The World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction and a copy of the Tale of Peter Rabbit story.

An online map and a clue takes egg hunters to the general location of each egg.

The eggs will be placed in open view in public areas so no digging or delving is necessary.

The Egg Hunt will be launched on April 16 at 10am online at www.hop-skip-jump.com where treasure hunters can view a map and clues on their mobile device before they set out on their quest.

Now in its seventh year, the Great Peter Rabbit Egg Hunt is hosted by The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and raises money for WaterAid.
