DETECTIVES looking for missing Matthew Jordan have released newly-uncovered CCTV footage which shows a mystery man walking in the churchyard close to where the 20-year-old was last seen.

The man, who police say could be a possible witness, is seen walking along a path in St Martin's Church, Bowness, at 12.54am.

He then retraces his footsteps seconds later as someone stands in a doorway of a business opposite.

The CCTV images show the man walk through the grounds of the church and out of shot - only to return just over 10 seconds later walking in the direction he originally came from.

Police said this is only 10 minutes after Matthew’s last confirmed sighting at 12.44am.

The church pathway is close to the Stag's Head Inn where 20-year-old Matthew Jordan was last seen after splitting up from his friends at around 12.30am on Thursday March 27.

“I’d also ask that if there is anyone who may have seen a person matching Matthew’s description in the early hours of 27th March to get in touch.”

Matthew is described as 6ft tall, of medium build, with dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a navy long sleeved shirt, jeans and grey pull up boots.
