SOUTH Lakes MP Tim Farron this week welcomed Kendal Nether ward councillor Clare Feeney-Johnson to Westminster - as she collected an award for being a ‘Heat Hero’.

The Heat Heroes Awards were organised to recognise individuals who have made a significant contribution to helping people living in fuel poverty in their local community, either at work or in volunteer activities outside the workplace.

A panel of judges selected 14 winners of who they felt went ‘above and beyond’ in their fuel poverty work and Coun Johnson was selected as one of the winners.

Mr Farron said: "Clare should be proud of the work that she has done to help residents in her area who are suffering from fuel poverty.

"It is an issue that sadly affects a number of people in the area and I am always working hard to do what I can in Parliament to tackle the problem.

"The fact that Clare is being recognised in this way is no surprise to those who know her—she has been a tireless campaigner for action to end fuel poverty and I was delighted to be able to support her at the awards ceremony."
