THE hunt is on for young dance talent to form Cumbria Youth Dance Company for 2014/15.

Auditions for the company take place on May 4, 10am - 4pm at The Kirkgate Centre, Cockermouth.

The audition process will select up to 16 gifted and talented dancers to be Cumbria’s flagship Youth Dance Company for one year.

"The audition is open to all young dancers aged 12-18 years, male and female living in Cumbria," said Lynn Barnes, who co-ordinates the county’s Dance Cumbria project.

"We’re looking for spirited young people who have a passion for dance and performance, and who have raw talent that we can help shape."

“The Company has had a fantastic but busy year during 2013/14.

"They have performed in Cumbria and at The Lowry in Manchester, visited Edgehill University, worked with Motionhouse Dance Theatre and then watched them perform as part of Mintfest, done lots of contemporary technique classes led by Kelly McClelland from the Centre for Advanced Training scheme and they’ve all just submitted their Arts Award Bronze portfolios.

"As always, we’re really excited to see who this year’s auditions will bring to us.”
