A PENSIONER has been airlifted to hospital while a woman had to be cut out of a car following a crash on the A590.
The smash involved a Peugot 107 and a BMW motorbike on the dual carriageway at Haverthwaite at 11.07am today.
A 66-year-old woman who was a passenger on the motorbike was airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital by the Great North Air Ambulance with serious injuries.
The driver of the motorbike was a 66-year-old man whose injuries were said not to be serious.
Cumbria Police said a woman had to be cut out of the other vehicle, but they did not yet know whether she was a passenger or the driver.
Police confirmed that the road is starting to open.
There was no further information available at this time.
