The first children’s ‘aquathon’ is set to make big waves in the fitness community.

For the last five years, Epic Events has organised the increasingly popular Ulverston Triathlon, famed for its family friendly approach.

Now they are going one step further by organising events for children before the main adult race on Sunday (April 20) at Ulverston Leisure Centre.

Children aged seven to nine will swim one length and run 500 metres while those aged 10 to 14 will complete two lengths before a 1km run.

Mark Laithwaite, who organised the event, said: “We wanted to do something that would get children into the spirit of things. This is about participation. It’s a family friendly event that’s more about taking part than winning.”

The event is free to enter but it is compulsory to register beforehand.
