CUMBRIA Police are deploying extra patrols over the bank holiday weekend to ensure road safety for motorcyclists and drivers.
Operation Focus is an enforcement campaign aimed at reducing the likelihood of fatalities and serious injuries involving motorbikes on roads.
A police spokesperson said: “With such favourable weather over this Easter bank holiday weekend, it’s inevitable there will be a large influx of motorcyclists and other road users.”
This follows the four road traffic collision deaths involving motorbikes which occurred within the space of two-and-a-half hours on Sunday March 30.
Cumbria Police said they would work in conjunction with north Lancashire and North Yorkshire Police over the Easter period to ensure the law is enforced.
The constabulary would like to warn people to drive at the appropriate speed and be aware of fatigue after lunch.
They added that they would also appeal to other road users to ‘drive to arrive’.
