THE programme for the fifteenth annual Ulverston WalkFest has been announced.

The ten-day event will run from April 26 to May 5 and feature over 30 walks and activities designed to appeal to all ages and abilities.

This year’s programme features a historical trail of postman’s paths from Greenodd, a visit to Coniston Copper mines, a Herb Walk led by a Medical Herbalist and the Ulverston Ale Trail, among others.

Many will take in local and industrial history to give walkers an insight into the area’s heritage.

Others will take advantage of the surrounding hills and fells or have an activity focus on sketching and wildlife observation.

Each walk will be led by a volunteer walk leader and the starting point, wherever possible, can be reached by public transport.
