MEMBERS of the community in Hawkshead have expressed concerns to police following reports of children being chased in the village.

It is believed this has happened in the village three times since January but only the most recent was reported officially to Police.

The children did not come into contact with the men that were chasing them but police said they were 'understandably distressed'.

The men have been described as wearing dark clothing and hoodies.

Sergeant Bill Nolan, Ulverston and Lakes Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Patrols have been increased as a result of the report received on 20th March and suitable advice was immediately given to youth groups and schools in the area.

“From the information received it appears this has occurred on three occasions since January.

"However, the first two incidents and information surrounding them were not reported to Police.

"Therefore we are keen to encourage the public to call Police with information of any incidents that cause alarm or distress to any persons.”
