A TOTAL of 73 people will contest the 17 different wards in the upcoming South Lakeland District Council elections on May 22.
The full list of prospective councillors was released today by SLDC after nominations closed yesterday.
All the main political parties are represented including the Greens, UKIP and an independent.
The wards represents a third of the 51 seats in the district council chamber.
As things stand, South Lakeland District Council is currently run by the Liberal Democrats which have 33 seats, the Conservatives hold 14, Labour has three and one is held by an Independent.
Those candidates contesting seats in the town and parish council elections have not yet been released.
