A MAN sustained ‘serious’ head, back and chest injuries after being knocked from his bike during a road traffic collision in the Eden Valley.
The 55-year-old had to be rushed to hospital by air ambulance at around 2pm yesterday afternoon, after the incident in Nateby, near Kirkby Stephen.
The man, from Lytham St Annes, was taken to the major trauma centre at James Cook Hospital, Middlesborough, after the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called.
Paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service were already on the scene.
A spokesman for GNAAS said the man sustained ‘serious chest, back and facial injuries’.
He was said to be ‘stable’ on arrival at the hospital.
