THE good, the bad and the scary are all out in force this week for the 27th annual scarecrow festival in Wray.
A heroes and villains theme has seen the village excel itself, with hundreds of characters designed to elicit boos and cheers from visitors to the north Lancashire village.
They have been created by residents, business owners and schoolchildren, who have embraced the theme and re-created hundreds of characters from TV and film including Buzz Lightyear, Darth Vader and Tom and Jerry.
The festival will run until Bank Holiday Monday, May 5.
A giant scarecrow parade will take place tomorrow, Friday, and a collectors market and vintage vehicle rally will run on Sunday.
Dave Forshaw, a member of the organising committee, said: “Local people have been hard at work making their scarecrows – this year’s theme is ‘heroes and villains’ – and there will be plenty for visitors to do and see.”
