‘Local heroes’ sowed the seeds of friendship by working together to live the good life.
Green-fingered neighbourly volunteers have done everything from plant an orchard to making their own bird boxes in a bid to clean-up and preserve Windermere’s environment.
Victoria Road North is fast becoming a beacon of neighbourly spirit and their strive for self-sufficiency has won the support of several environmental groups.
Not content with completely managing their surrounding woodland and planting an orchard, residents are calling-in a wildflower expert to enhance the foliage and they are making bat boxes to entice more wildlife into the area.

Liz Davey, from Windermere Reflections, said: “These people are truly local heroes.
"They have sought advice and support, and then got on with it themselves, improving their own environment.
"We could all learn a great deal from their example, and we are thrilled with what they have achieved.”
