TWO thousand cyclists will take to the road on Sunday in a bid to complete the 15th Saddleback Fred Whitton Challenge charity cycle ride.

The riders will start individually from Grasmere Show field between 6am and 8am to take on the gruelling 112-mile route over all the Lakeland passes.

Motorists are warned that the riders will be on the following route at these approximate times: Ambleside, 6.30am to 9.30am; Kirkstone Pass, 7am to 10 am; Keswick, 8am to 11am; Honister Pass, 9am to 12noon; Newlands Pass, 10am to 1pm; Whinlatter Pass, 10am to 1 pm; Loweswater, 11am to 2 pm; Cold Fell, 11am to 2 pm; Gosforth, 12noon to 4 pm; Hard Knott Pass, 1pm to 5pm; Wrynose Pass, 1pm to 6pm; Little Langdale, 1pm to 6 pm; Grasmere, 1pm to 6 pm.

The route will be marshalled and signposted, with warning signs for riders and motorists.
