CONCERN has been raised over suggestions that a fire engine could be lost from north Lancashire – which will halve cover in parts of the area.
The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce has begun a campaign opposing the proposed removal of an appliance from Lancaster, which could be imple-mented within three years.
A spokesman said that both the Fire Brigades Union and fire-fighters have also raised concerns.
The appliance acts as support or second attendance for Bolton-le-Sands, Carnforth and Caton.
It also covers along the coast into Silverdale as a ‘sand and river specialist rescue’ service, while a 28-mile stretch of the M6 also falls under its remit.
