A FOUR-part thriller set in the Lake District has been given the green light by ITV.

Inspired by a true story, Safe House will tell the tale of a married couple who turn their remote guest house into a safe house.

ITV announced last week that it had commissioned the four-part drama series from Eleventh Hour Films, describing it as ‘a compelling character-driven drama’.

A spokesperson for the TV station said: “Safe House is an atmospheric thriller set in the beautiful wilderness of the Lake District.”

The series was created and written by Michael Crompton, whose previous work includes Kidnap & Ransom and Carrie’s War.

It was commissioned by ITV’s director of drama Steve November and controller of drama Victoria Fea.

The filming of Safe House is due to start in the autumn.
