A CHEQUE for £20,000 raised at a Grand Charity Dinner at the Shap Wells Hotel and attended by more than 300 guests was presented to the Cumbria Community Foundation on Monday at Dovenby Hall, Cockermouth.
The money will benefit the High Sheriff’s Crimebeat Fund which supports young people in danger of becoming involved in the youth justice system.
Television historian David Starkey was the guest speaker at the dinner which was co-hosted by Cumbria’s outgoing High Sheriff, Diana Matthews, and current High Sheriff, Martyn Hart.
