MEMBERS of the Richard Allen Cumbria Classic Mini Club, above, were among thousands of people who went back in time as a high-powered ‘retro’ show came to Crooklands.
Thousands of people from across the UK flocked to the Westmorland County Showground at the weekend for Total Retro – a unique classic car event, which was the brainchild of Oxenholme brothers Chris and David Hall.
A vintage marquee, auto jumble, fairground rides and a Black Cab photobooth helped to give the event ‘a festival vibe’.
David, 35, said: “We thought other shows were missing a trick. They’re very commercial and they’re not at all chilled out, so we thought why not give it a shot and it very quickly became so big we couldn’t count the people who came.”
St John’s Hospice, Macmillan Nurses and Kendal’s Sandgate Hydropool each received £1,000 from a Run from the Sun fund-raiser run alongside the festival by South Lakes Vee Dubbers.
David, who runs The Punch Bowl at Barrows Green, has confirmed the event will take place again next year.
