A REAL former postie has won a family set of four tickets to the gala screening of Postman Pat: The Movie in Kendal this weekend.
Steven Armstrong, 80, of Kendal, delivered mail in Cumbria for 20 years and said: “I loved the job – I always loved meeting people”.
Steven’s partner Carol Wood, 75, won the Gazette’s competition by correctly answering that the author John Cunliffe was a teacher at Castle Park Primary School when he created Postman Pat.
The pair will be taking along great-granddaughter Megan and a lucky friend.
“We’re really looking forward to it,” said Carol, “We think the Brewery’s a wonderful place and the film will be really good for Kendal – any publicity for the town is great.”
The Brewery’s gala screening of the film is set to dazzle on Saturday, six days before the film goes on general release in the UK.
Actor Stephen Mangan, who provides the voice of Postman Pat, is expected to attend the event.
Glittering touches will include a red carpet and a replica steam engine in the Brewery’s garden where the stars will conduct media interviews.
