AN Ulverston entrepreneur has sold her niche travel advice company to the global giant TripAdvisor.
Sally Broom’s Tripbod was acquired by the international travel review site for an undisclosed sum and she will move to TripAdvisor’s London office as part of the deal.
A former pupil of St Anne’s School, Windermere, Ms Broom launched Tripbod in 2009 as YourSafe Planet.com to help gap year students find their way around.
Now it connects a wide range of travellers with local experts in tourist destinations across the world, allowing them to find ‘hidden gems’ and boosting lesser known tourist attractions.
She described the day of the acquisition by TripAdvisor as ‘very special for everyone connected to Tripbod’.
