The Brathay Marathon and Family Fun Day is set to take place tomorrow Sunday (May 18) from 11am to 5pm at Brathay Hall, Ambleside.

The day involves people being able cheer the runners - completing their 10th marathon in 10 days - as they cross the finish line on the front lawn of Brathay Hall on the shores of Windermere.

There is also a wide range of activities and games suitable for children of all ages including canoeing, climbing wall, bouncy castle and circus skills workshop.

In addition, a BBQ, tea & refreshments, beer tent and a jazz band will be held.

Disabled facilities are also available.

Visitors are advised to follow signs and directions for car parking.

Entry is free and car parking costs £5, although there will be some small charge for some activities, say organisers.

Alternatively, people can park in Ambleside and make the 15-20 min walk to the Brathay Estate, said those hosting the event.

All proceeds go towards improving the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.

The original Windermere Marathon first took place in 1982 and ran until 1986 before being revived in 2007 by the Brathay Trust.
