ONE of South Lakeland District Council’s apprentices stole the show by scooping two honours at Lancaster and Morecambe College’s Apprenticeship Celebration Awards 2014.

Jess Holbrook, who is working as a trainee in the council’s human resources group, won Most Innovative Apprentice and Apprentice of the Year at a ceremony.

Five hundred apprentices were in the running for the awards, 50 were shortlisted and these were then whittled down to three on the night.

Jess, 20, from Windermere, was nominated by her colleagues at the council. Their nomination form and Jess’s achievements, exam and course work results were judged by a panel made up of college workers and local employers.

The panel said that their decision was unanimous.
