AN Ambleside hotel has landed a gold award for green tourism.
The Waterhead Boutique Hotel and Dining struck gold in its Green Business Tourism inspection.
The accolade means that all five establishments run by English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues have now attained the top standard for sustainability, with the art deco Midland Hotel in Morecambe having just landed gold as well.
“We work hard to promote sustainable tourism, so we’re especially proud that all five of our properties in Cumbria and Lancashire have now been accredited with this gold accolade,” said Matt Stanaway from The Midland Hotel.
The Green Business Tourism gold standard is awarded where a strong ethos for sustainability is being achieved, backed up by examples such as the latest energy efficient measures and renewable technologies, green procurement and ethical produce.
