FLOOKBURGH-based Bay Search and Rescue have announced a new endurance challenge which is likely to test even the fittest of athletes.

'Bootcamp in the Bay' is a four mile adventure challenge that ventures into the Morecambe Bay Sands from the team's HQ.

It will feature more than 30 obstacles - both natural and manmade.

"Morecambe Bay throws up it's on unique challenges which will hopefully make this event challenging and fun," said Mike David, the team's training officer.

Marshalled by the charity's operational team, the event is open to everyone and will include a junior challenge.

Proceeds from the entry fees will go directly to the team but you can take part and raise sponsorship for the team or a charity of your choice.

Working with Mark Wear, from West Coast Challenges, the event takes place on September 7.

Bay Search and Rescue provides their rescue services across Cumbria and Lancashire in support of the Fire & Rescue service, HM Coastguard and other emergency services.

The team has been called to 20 incidents so far this year which have included the bay and further afield.
