CUMBRIAN photographer Steve Brannon has once again captured the magnifcent Lake District - this time the famous Rannerdale bluebells in the Buttermere Valley.

Steve, 41, from Frizington, got the shot on Rannerdale above Crummock Water.

He said: “I’ve been to Rannerdale many times on ascents of Grasmoor, Whiteless Pike and Rannerdale Knotts, but I’ve never been this time of year and I’ve never gone out of my way to see the famous bluebells.

“Bluebell woodlands are always beautiful but the Rannerdale bluebells are quite a rarity in the Lake District, in that they are on open fellside, rather than amongst trees.

"It’s an amazing location sheltered below Rannerdale Knotts, with stunning views looking out over Crummock Water in the north western lakes to Mellbreak and beyond – Rannerdale at its best is a spectacular sight that shouldn’t be missed. I still managed to take in the summit of Rannerdale Knotts - a four mile walk through a little piece of paradise."
