A RESCUE team initially called to help a man injured at a popular beauty spot had to deal with a second casualty.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 1.15pm yesterday (Monday) when a man fell into the beck near the Aira Force waterfall, near Ullswater.
The man lacerated his leg and volunteers from the Patterdale team treated him at the scene.
While they were stretchering him to an ambulance they were called to a woman, from Stockport, who injured her ankle in a slip.
Team members treated the woman’s injuries while colleagues stretchered the first injured walker from the site.
The Great North Air Ambulance also assisted.
The stretcher party then returned and carried the woman to a mountain rescue Land Rover.
Thirteen Patterdale MRT members were involved across three hours.
