AN electrical engineer and a cinematography student from Ambleside have joined forces to generate a buzz with their playful corporate videos.

Jeffrey Dodds and Adam Pickford are the men behind ‘Dizzycam’ – a media production company which in a few short months has been commissioned to create films for some of Europe’s biggest companies.

“Adam’s dad is a mate of mine and he’s been doing cinematography since he was about eight years old,” said Jeff.

“He’s the tech guy and he’s just incredible at what he does – I come up with the concept and the music and he interprets my ideas and does the photography.”

The pair’s first job was to create a video for Ambleside rugby club, celebrating the fact that it is one of the oldest in the north. Since then they have beat off competition to win a commission for one of the biggest Ferrari showrooms in the country.

They have also notched up projects for Topman, Muncaster Castle, Austrian automation company Loxone and Italian lighting design giants Iguzzini.

The videos are sent out by firms to customers, and Dizzycam says it is trying to take a more ‘playful’ approach to the corporate world.

“A lot of people want them to be quite formal,” said Jeffrey, “but I think if you make them with a sense of humour you will reach a better audience.”
