TOURISM business are being given the chance to go big in Japan.

Cumbria Tourism has arranged for a trade group called The Lake District Japan Forum to link-up with local operators seeking a foothold in the Far East.

The forum regularly flies out to Japan to promote the Lakes to tourism buyers.

And it also has a Japanese market specialist in Tokyo providing insider feedback on trade developments and marketing opportunities in the county.

The Lake District welcomes many Japanese visitors every year and the country is considered one of the top five of international visitors to the area.

The meeting happens on Tuesday June 10 and Cumbria Tourism says it offers business a chance to gain 'invaluable advice'.

The event takes place between 2pm-7pm on June 10 at Cumbria Tourism’s office in Staveley.

A spokeswoman said: "Members of the Japan Forum Steering Group will be on hand to discuss the work of the Forum and let you know how you can get involved and the benefits it can bring.

"Presentations will take place on the hour every hour and you will receive information on the following marketing opportunities you can choose from including."

Offers include:

• Having your own translated entry on the website www.kosuichihou.com

• Associate membership giving you access to valuable feedback and market intelligence

• The opportunity to get proactively involved and have a seat on the Steering Group
