secretary for the Herdwick Sheep Breeders’ Association, is in training for a new race launched to support Cumbrian farmers who earn their living from the iconic Lakeland breed.
The Herdwick 10k takes place on July 5 as a curtain-raiser to the Langdale Gla, which is being held the following day.
Amanda, who works full time as a vet, has been training since April. “I've been using an app on my phone which aims to get you running 5k in eight weeks,” she said.
“I struggled for the first few weeks but now I'm making good progress, although I expect to be the last one home.”
The race is organised by Taste Cumbria in conjunction with Great Langdale Road Races. Profits will go to the Herdwick Sheep Breeders' Association.
