A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy has been rushed to hospital after falling from a carriage at the Appleby Horse Fair.

The youngster was taken to Carlisle Infirmary after being ‘significantly hurt’.

Cumbria Police revealed the North West Ambulance Service attended the incident after the boy fell, after being involved in a collision with another carriage.

A spokeswoman said: “Speed was a contributing factor to this incident.

“The boy was in a carriage which was described by witnesses as travelling fast.

“Luckily, he was treated and should be fine. However, it is a reminder to all, reducing speed in any vehicle can reduce the risk of injury or save your life.”
