A RETIRED archaeologist and lecturer has promised to ‘promote the town as much as he can’ after being elected as Mayor of Kendal – for the second time.
Coun Tom Clare has proved to be a popular choice with his fellow town councillors, after also serving as deputy mayor over the past year.
The 68-year-old was made the 277th ‘first citizen’ of the Auld Grey Town at an inauguration ceremony on Thursday.
