A POPULAR hotel has picked up a gong for the quality of its restaurant food.

The art deco Midland Hotel in Morecambe attained an AA food rosette in recognition of its food preparation, use of wholesome ingredients and service to guests.

The hotel is run by English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues and the long-established AA Rosette scheme recognises successful cooking.

Success is based on one or more visits by an AA inspector to a hotel or restaurant to assess an entire meal.

“We are very proud of our food quality here at the Midland,” said general manager Matt Stanaway.

“Only about 10 per cent of restaurants nationwide are of a standard that is worthy of one AA rosette and above, so it’s an achievement not to be underestimated.

“Our menus are designed around the needs and desires of our guests, so it’s a real feather in the cap for head chef Michael Wilson and his restaurant team to pick up this accolade.”

The Midland joins its sister hotel Lancaster House in achieving both this award and a gold accolade for Green Tourism in recent weeks.

AA rosette accredited restaurants achieve standards which centre on care, understanding and skill applied to food produce and menu design.
