An elderly man was saved by a mountain rescue team after falling and injuring his head.

This morning (Tuesday) a walker, aged 78, tripped whilst walking near Crowberry Haws on the eastern flank on Coniston Old Man.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team mustered seven members, who found the man and treated him for head injuries.

The Great North Air Ambulance took him to Coniston where he was transferred to Furness General Hospital.
