CUMBRIA Police are to hold a Water Safety Advice Day in Barrow on Sunday (July 6).

The day has been organized by Cumbria Constabulary, the Ports Unit of the Counter Terrorism Branch and the Police Marine Unit.

A police gazebo will be located at the slipway into the channel, opposite the Ferry Pub, between 11am and 3pm.

The public are invited to come along and discuss any concerns or questions.

The Police Marine Unit will also be in the water in their Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB), and will be joined by representatives from the Associated British Ports and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The North West Inshore Fisheries will also be in the water in their RIB.

The Police Marine Unit and colleagues will be offering advice to those already on the water, and will be explaining to interested people the Port of Barrow bylaws.
